Treasurer’Äôs Report:¬Ý many schools have not yet paid Spring 2011 Play-off fees.¬Ý There was a request for schools to do so.¬Ý Most schools have paid their league dues some schools have not.¬Ý The schools who have not are requested to please pay their dues.¬Ý Currently, we are solvent.

Chuck reported that a former student (big guy with a beard) had sent an email correcting the league format that is currently on the website.¬Ý (He’Äôs a nice kid!)

League reports:

NCL I, Gordon Oslund (Willits):¬Ý

¬ÝApproved all league schedules except Tennis pending tonight’Äôs vote.¬Ý Discussed referees and expressed concern regarding relationship with referees association as to whether it is a healthy one or not.¬Ý Recommended that principals and AD’Äôs in each county should try and meet with officials and try and keep communication open and on-going.¬Ý Discussed volleyball warm-ups, they are too long and need to be shortened.¬Ý It was brought up that Marin County (MCAL) has rules for a 4 minute clearing between games and then 8 minutes on court for each team.¬Ý Tom Hoppe (St. Helena) will be circulating information regarding this and all agreed it should be done without making issues.¬Ý Gordon expressed the desire for all principals to attend these meetings and recommended that word should go back to all CMC principals to push the principals to engage in this process.¬Ý Middletown expressed problems with Cross Country because there have been many coaching changes in recent years so locations are unknown. ¬Ý It was suggested that Airic (Middletown) contact his former coach John at Upper Lake to try and coordinate the Cross Country situation.

NCL II, DJ Hein (Calistoga): ¬Ý

Calistoga also expressed confusion with the Cross Country situation and he said that he (DJ) would not mind helping coordinate the Cross Country information.¬Ý Approved the schedules and will coordinate with each other for baseball and softball because it appears that all in the league are on same spring break schedule.¬Ý Concerned about Tennis play-offs, who will host and where it will be held.¬Ý They are also concerned about officials in NCL II. ¬Ý DJ expressed concern that he still hadn’Äôt received championship information from all schools.¬Ý He’Äôs trying to compose a spreadsheet for championships.

NCL III, Gail Dickenson (Mendocino):

Baseball/softball will be double-headers again this season with 2:00 start times and 5 innings.¬Ý Discussed how 8-man football was going and Robert Pinoli announced that he had recently been discussing with Gil Lemmon, NCS Commissioner the possibility of state play-offs in 8-man football with other sections.¬Ý Robert also reported that Gil Lemmon would be attending the game at Anderson Valley this coming Friday night and Gil is interested in trying to set up a bowl game with the Central Coast Section and will be asking the National Federation for an early approval on that.

Other business:

Chuck announced that Somerfield Waldorf is interested in playing in a league for baseball.¬Ý They need to be added in.¬Ý Need to find out if they (SW) have a home field.¬Ý It was noted that they do not.¬Ý They will be added to the schedule taking up the byes in NCL II.

Chuck read a proposal for a possible future NCL II from Leon Felciano at Tomales:¬Ý Rumor has it that the Bay Football League is in a state of change with Div. 4 power Salesian and Berean Christian looking to get out.¬Ý Perhaps the rest of the league with their Div. 5 schools can join our league.¬Ý This league would look like the following:

NCL II

’Ä¢ Upper Lake, 2) St. Vincent, 3) Calistoga, 4) Tomales, 5) Calif. School for the Deaf (CSD), 6) Emery, 7) St. Elizabeth

Chuck and Steve remember that CSD and Emery used to actually be in the old NCL II years ago.

Chuck announced that Robert will be passing around the form for all to fill out with correct information so that the website can be updated.

Geri announced that she would be passing out the information sheets for the NCS Scholastic Awards program that were not included in the envelopes already passed out to schools.

Robert reminded Chuck that there were many new AD’Äôs this year and so Chuck had everyone introduce themselves.¬Ý They were as follows:¬Ý

Bragg;¬Ý Gordon Oslund, Principal, Willits;¬Ý Matt Cockerton, Principal, Kelseyville;¬Ý Steve Olson, AD, Kelseyville;¬Ý Tom Hoppe, AD, St. Helena;¬Ý Chuck Davison, CMC Commissioner;¬Ý Arlene Davison;¬Ý Jim Tomlin, Principal, Anderson Valley;¬Ý Robert Pinoli, Asst. CMC Commissioner

Chuck thanked Robert and Geri for all of their help.¬Ý Chuck also announced that we still need someone to run the Tennis Championships.¬Ý He asked that Doug Crouse try and talk his former tennis coach into taking on the championships again as she has done it in the recent past.¬Ý Several names were passed around and Gordon said his coach, Dave Smith, would be capable and recommended that Geri give him a call.¬Ý Gordon said that the Willits courts wouldn’Äôt be a good place to play.¬Ý Steve Gentry reminded group that last year the tennis championships were held at Mendocino College.¬Ý Geri asked if Gordon thought that Dave would be willing to organize the event at Mendocino College.¬Ý Geri will call Dave Smith at Willits and ask him about hosting the Tennis Championships at Mendocino College.

Tennis Proposal:

Chuck proposed that we keep the tennis leagues to North, Middle and South as in past years.¬Ý St. Helena expressed that his coach would like to see us return to the old league as did Ft. Bragg.¬Ý Steve asked how the travel was different for any other sport?¬Ý Chuck asked why he (Steve) didn’Äôt want it to change and he expressed interest in keeping all leagues as realigned.¬Ý He (Steve) asked for a motion to be put on the floor to vote¬Ý

on.¬Ý Chuck then put a motion on the floor to have CMC Tennis leagues to return to the former alignment of North, Middle and South. The motion was seconded by Robert Pinoli.¬Ý Discussion followed.¬Ý Gordon asked what the opinion of the athletic directors’Äô was?¬Ý It was reported that ADs noted that most coaches wanted to leave the league as it was before the realignment.¬Ý One of the concerns from coaches was for kids missing so much class time if the league followed the realignment.¬Ý Steve stated that those same coaches are the ones who spread the league tournament into two days when it could be done in one day.¬Ý Many agreed on this one point.¬Ý Vote was taken with vote being 17-1 for approval of keeping the tennis league as it was before the realignment.

Discussion was held in regards to how Tennis tournament could be better handled so that athletes would not miss so much class time and miss STAR testing.

Further discussion was held regarding whether schedules needed to be changed to accommodate Somerfield Waldorf .¬Ý Chuck and Robert will work on that schedule.

Meeting was adjourned at 5:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted by Geri Giovannetti, Asst. CMC Commissioner
