NCL II – League
Sportsmanship Award
1.
The
pennant is to be the same size and shape as those for sports championships.
2.
The
colors are to be orange with black letters, with a logo of shaking hands;
season and year to be printed horizontally and the word ³sportsmanship² printed
vertically.
3.
Awards
are to be presented for fall, winter, and spring sessions.
4.
Criteria:
A.
Hospitality:
Are visitors
formally greeted and welcomed? Are fans, players and staff respectful? Is the
concession stand serving food of acceptable quality? Were locker rooms and
bathrooms clean?
B.
Supervision: Are players and fans properly
supervised? Was facility correctly prepared for competition?
C.
Coachesı
Behavior: Were
coaches respectful of officials and opponents? Were coaches present before and
after competition for questions, concerns, etc.?
D.
Playersı
Behavior: Were
players respectful of officials and opponents? Were players guilty of
unsportsmanlike conduct or major rule infractions?
E.
Fansı
Behavior: Were fans
respectful of opponents and officials? Were fans guilty of inappropriate
comments or cheers?
5.
Selection
Method:
A.
Each
school ranks the other schools 1 through 5 (5 = high) for sportsmanship
according to the criteria.
B.
Schools
do not rank themselves.
C.
In
case of ties, multiple banners will be awarded.
6.
The
athletic director will compile a ranking by the last day of regular season.
7.
The
athletic director needs to compile one ranking for each of the schools, except
for their own, and report the result to Robert Pinoli at 895-3496, fax
895-3153, or email rpinoli@mcn.org.

8.
Each
school that wins the sportsmanship award will pay for the cost of producing the
pennant to:
